Did you know that France is one of the world’s largest producers of caviar? There are six caviar producers in Aquitaine, including @caviardeneuvic — a restaurant favorite who also has standalone shops in Paris and Bordeaux. You can visit their sturgeon farm in the Dordogne to see how the fish live and experience a tasting of their baeri and ossetra (plus the rillettes and caviar butter!).

Despite what’s being reported in the media, the strikes in Paris are not as disruptive as you would think. I spent the last National Grève day at the Musee d’Orsay, then shopped and had lunch in the 6th. Enjoy the city as it really is - strikes happen, and you learn how to deal with them by being flexible and aware of what’s happening around you. No need to cancel your Paris plans!

Wandering through St-Germain-des-Pres, I caught a little band playing "Si tu vois ma mère" by Sidney Bichet (made famous by Midnight in Paris). This is one of the things I love about Paris...you never know what's around the corner.

Every time I walk down an old street like this, I get tingles. Sarlat is a must-visit when you're in the Southwest of France, and though it is a bit touristic these days, it's still marvelously medieval town with a fantastic market.

Sundays are market day near us in Los Angeles, but nothing compares to the produce and markets we get to visit when we're in the Southwest of France. My favorite things to buy are zucchini flowers, leeks, fava beans, and strawberries - what's in season near you?

A bit of Paris comes to town! Sézane has landed in Los Angeles for a limited 4-month popup at Platform in Culver City. Coincidentally, I just wrote about some of my favorite French clothing and shoe brands on the blog. If you love French brands, tell me where else I should be shopping?

I can't remember the name of this town where we stopped to walk around after a brocante, but it is in the Dordogne (admittedly one of my favorite places in France). One of my favorite things about the French countryside is stumbling upon old stone churches and castles surrounded by trees. Do you have a favorite town/village in the Dordogne that I need to add to my "must-visit" list?

I've been hearing from friends that Paris is the quietest it's ever been, due to lack of tourists (@theearfultower podcast even mentioned how they were able to pop into the flagship Louis Vuitton store on the Champs-Élysées without having to queue up!). I'm trying to imagine this city without its usual hustle and bustle and I simply can't - here's hoping that we'll be able to travel again in the not-too-distant future.

Reminiscing back to when eating inside at restaurants was worry-free. One of my favorite stops in Paris, the famous Angelina. It's like a chocolate fantasy come to life.

If I had to pick a region of France that makes the best warm-weather food, it would be the south, of course. The areas called Alpes-Maritime and Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur boast some fantastic food influenced by the Mediterranean countries nearby (Italy, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, etc) and they use a lot of vegetables and seafood in their dishes. Olive oil and chickpeas are what make of this southern snack called "panisse", sometimes described as chickpea fries. They are great with a glass of rosé, best when eaten at a sunny cafe overlooking the ocean, but still delicious when devoured at your dining room table in California.
